Toronto Wolfpack RLFC

Toronto Wolfpack are a professional Rugby League team playing in the Super League, the Northern Hemisphere’s premier Rugby League competition. We are the worlds first professional transatlantic sports team and the first Club outside of Europe to take part in the Super League.

Our home games are held at Lamport Stadium, also knows as The Den, in Toronto. Beginning our journey in 2017, we won the Kingstone Press League One title and earned promotion to the second-tier Championship in our inaugural season. In 2018, we won the Betfred Championship League Leaders Shield before qualifying for the ‘Million Pound Game’. Held in Toronto, the final fixture of the season determined which team would be promoted to the Super League for the 2019 Season. Unfortunately we lost the ‘Million Pound Game’ to London Broncos by two points and as a result competed in the Betfred Championship again in 2019.

Ahead of the 2019 Season, we recruited a new Head Coach, Brian McDermott, and several experienced and skilled players and the improvement on-field was immediate. Finishing the regular season with a record of 26-1, a record that included 21 consecutive victories, we claimed the League Leaders Shield once again, qualifying for a revised Playoffs structure in pole position. A triumph over Toulouse Olympique in a home Semi-Final then saw us book a place in the Million Pound Game once more, this time facing off against Featherstone Rovers for Super League promotion.

A thrilling game that saw the Rovers holding a slender lead at half-time would eventually turn our way and see us claim an 18-point victory that brought three years of effort to fruition. When the referee’s whistle brought an end to the game, we had achieved our dream of Super League promotion. Our mission now is to not only remain in the top division but to thrive in the competitive environment featuring some of the best Rugby League teams in the world.

The entire Toronto Wolfpack organisation is driven by four core beliefs and aspirations:

We believe the world is a better place with more rugby balls in kids’ hands.
We aspire to create a global centre for rugby excellence in Toronto.
We showcase the best of Ontario by supporting family run businesses.
We actively promote transatlantic trade between Canadian and UK partners.

The RFL was founded in 1895 in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. The professional game is split into 3 divisions: the Super League, the Championship and League 1 – with a promotion and relegation system seeing teams switch between them. It remains the standard for Rugby League in the northern hemisphere and the Super League is the second most-watched and followed professional sports league in the UK.
